Water harvesting in coastal and deltaic regions is the basic and problematic task for any other developmental works in these areas. The problem further intensifies with the ingress of sea water in rivers, channels and groundwater. Water harvesting in suitably designed ponds, mixed farming with agroforestry and fish farming may rule out the complexities to some extent. To meet up the necessities of ever growing population followed by necessary industrial activities suitable water harvesting and utilization policy requires attention in view of complex geomorphological, hydrological and human factors in such a fragile ecosystem.
